Salty Shipmates - Personal Pages

Annie and Charlie's Site
A nicely done multi-faceted site with sections featuring Chief Petty Officers and Naval Aviation. Chief Joseph and his wife also raise German Shepherd working class dogs and the site includes some great pages and graphics featuring their dogs. The GSD graphics page is long loading but worth the wait.

The Battle Off Samar
In the words of the site's author: "The battle off Samar was a World War II Naval action which occurred during the morning of Wednesday, October 25, 1944. It was one of four naval engagements the U.S. Navy fought against the Imperial Japanese Navy during the Battle of Leyte Gulf." An outstanding naval history site. Information and photo's galore. You'll really enjoy this one! Bravo Zulu Chief.

The BBQ'ING Home Page
If you enjoy good cooking and would like to add a few recipes to your cookbook, this is the place to go. In addition to the many fine recipes and helpful barbecuing tips, Kevin's site is entertaining and a graphical delight. You'll really enjoy this one.

Chief Cook's Home Port
"Net Nanny's" pages are a favorite of mine. Her pages are full of fifties nostalgia and good feelings. Nanny is a full time Deputy Sheriff, Granny, and Chief Petty Officer. Take a stroll down Memory Lane with Peg, (if your part of my generation). Peg has produced a wonderful tribute to the "Fifties" generation.

"Cruiser Scout - Recollections of War"
An online book, by Paul McKinley, Chief Warrant Officer, USN, 1937-1946. A fascinating story, with real life drama. (Includes Photos).

An excellent guide to the customs, places to see, and resources available for the sailor who is deploying to Japan. Gary Beckwith pages are both informational and entertaining.

The Goat Locker
A great all around resource, Greg's pages are informative and entertaining. Resources and graphics include a submarine page, photo gallery, and a CPO page.

Imperial Japanese Navy
Excellant look at the Japanese Navy during World War II. Jam-packed with data and photographs.

Unique Naval military organization open to all nations. Organized and run by CPOs to promote camaraderie between Chiefs of all nations.

James K. Polk SSBN 645
Greg has put up a very nice tribute to the USS James K Polk, my first boomer boat. I served aboard from 1976 to 1980. Greg is planning a reunion and has a deck log of former shipmates. Has some great stories, (some are "Salty").

Memorial Tribute to Veterans
Chuck's pages are beautifully done. Graphics intensive and a lengthy download. This stirring tribute to our fallen comrades is worth the wait.

US Navy Patrol Squadrons
Here is one for the "Brown Shoe" Navy. Do they still call it that? "ASW" Patrol Squadrons "Old" Navy Aircraft (P2 Neptunes, P3 Orions, PBY's, Ventura's), Shipmates, History of VP Squadrons "Past and Present," ARMY P2 Squadrons, Coast Guard, Allied Squadrons, Reunions, and Squadron Logo's. It's all here.

Navy Seabees
"We Build, We Fight". News, information and history of the U.S. Navy Construction Battalions.

Navy Seals
The most elite and highly trained commando force on the face of the earth. A nicely executed page, contains history, weaponry, operations, merchandise and chat.

Ron Martini's Navy Submarine Base
Ron has done a "Blockbuster" job on his pages. (Two thumbs Up) Chock full of submarine information and great graphics and don't miss the Thresher/Scorpion pages. Includes a BBS.

Tara Guthrie's S-51 Memorial
Tara's pages were a pleasure to browse through for this old submariner. There are some terrific graphics and resources for the serious student here. Tara's grandfather was a radioman onboard the S-51 on that fateful day when she collided with the steamship City of Rome. A Hearty Well done Shipmate!

USS Birmingham (SSN-695) Shipmate Connection
Nicely executed (frames) Web site from a former crewmember. The site includes reunion and crew info, and a ship's store. There is also a link to Charlie Kutterer's U.S.S. Birmingham Unofficial Home Page.

A page for you old "Greyhound Sailors". Very well done, informative and interesting. History, poetry, and a great picture of the ship with guns blazing.
