Hello Shipmates! Welcome to the personal section of my Web-site.
These pages contain my Naval history, photographs, places I have
worked, people I have known and some things that just plain
interest me.

My name is Richard; Richie to my friends. I'm a retired
Chief Radioman who served in the surface Navy and in submarines
for 21 years. I retired from the Navy in 1984 and have worked as
a government contractor in the shipbuilding industry since
then.. I currently live and work in the New Orleans, Louisiana
area and as you can see, my hobbies include website building and
stamp collecting.

The Web site is divided up into various sections and includes
several domains. If this was your entry point to the website

The MineHunters sections contains graphics and history of the MHC
Class of Navy Minehunters, which I helped to build
from 1988 to 1997. The
S-Boats section contains histories, photographs and
statistical information on the 51 U.S. Navy S Class submarines.
There is also a short humorous section concerning my Boot
Camp Experiences, (with photos). Some of the graphics are of
my dad's ships; he was also a 20 year Navy man, (Chief
Quartermaster). After he retired he ran commercial fishing
boats, worked in the post office and was the Captain of a Gaff
Boom Rigged Schooner named the Mystic Whaler, which
carried 44 passengers on windjammer sailing cruises of 2, 6, and
10 days.
The "Web-Links" Link above and below currently
contains quite a few web-sites that are no longer online. I will
be updating (adding/removing) the links section very shortly. |

The Charlie Tuna Logo below was used as a part of
the Submarine Veterans Association's
successful campaign to persuade the Post Office Department and
the Citizen's Stamp Committee
to issue a submarine stamp for the 100th anniversary of the
Submarine Service. Our campaign
worked even better than we could have imagined as we ended up
with five different sub stamps
and a special Presentation Booklet. The original image stated,
"Sorry Charlie - Non-Qualified" and
was posted on most of the personal and organizational
submarine web-sites on the internet.
