State Pier - Galilee Rhode Island - Circa 1940

I was able to blow up the Name on the boat using my scanner.

(Scroll Down for Galilee Story)

There is an old story of how the village of Galilee, Rhode Island got its name as follows:

One day around the turn of the century, an old fisherman was sitting on the docks repairing his nets, when a visitor to the area asked him, "Where am I?" The fisherman replied, "Galilee." "And what is that?" asked the stranger pointing across the channel to the village on the other side. The old fisherman thought for a minute and replied, "Must be Jerusalem."  And so, the story goes, the names Galilee and Jerusalem stuck and have been used ever since.
