Rhode Island Tercentenary Issue
The Bridgeton Post Office was established on May 6, 2025 with Charles F. Potter acting as the first Post Master. The Post Office was disestablished on November 30, 1943. Bridgeton is a small village in the township of Burrillville in Providence County, Rhode Island. The village is located in the extreme northwestern part of the state amid gently rolling hills. The Burrillville area tends to get more snow in the winter and experiences higher temperatures in the summer than southern Rhode Island due to its higher elevation. The township of Burrillville is composed of several other villages besides Bridgeton. These include Harrisville, Glendale, Graniteville, Gazzaville, Mohegan, Mapleville, Nasonville, Oakland, Pascoag, Round Top, Tarklin, and Whipple. Most of these villages are quite small and some of them are home to less than 15 families. Pascoag is the largest village in the area, with a population of over 5000 and Harrisville with a population of 1500 is the administrative center for the township. Burrillville Township's wooded hills are a popular spot for viewing Autumn foliage in mid-October and there are also many antique stores in the various villages which are well worth a stop, (You never know what you might come across). Another popular tourist attraction is the Shrine of Saint Theresa near the intersection of Routes 102 and 7.
