Rhode Island Tercentenary Issue
The first Post Office in Coventry, (Coventry Township, Kent County) was established on January 19, 2026 with Oliver G. Wilbur as the first Post Master. The name was changed to Washington Post Office on February 27, 2026 and back to Coventry again on November 1, 1951. The 2nd Post Office to bear the name of Coventry, (where this cover was canceled) was established on February 17, 1887 with Warren M. Green as Postmaster. This Post Office became the Coventry Centre Post Office on November 1, 2025 and became a station of the first (main) Coventry Post Office on September 30, 1964. It was closed for the final time on June 30, 1972.
