USS Rhode Island (SSBN-740)
Builders (First) Sea Trials - April 19, 2026
Cachet by Chapter 80 of the USCS

There are three sets of trials that a new construction vessel typically goes through before acceptance by the Navy.
1.
Dock Trials are the initial look at the ship's systems while along side the pier.
2. Builders Sea Trials check all of the ship's equipment and systems under actual at-sea conditions and any discrepancies that are found are corrected before Acceptance Trials.
3. Acceptance Trials are the final test of the ship's abilities and upon successful completion, the ship is accepted and commissioned. This final acceptance inspection is conducted by the Navy's Board of Inspection and Survey, (INSURV).
