100th Anniversary Submarine Service
The S-51 sunk in 1925 after being rammed by the Liner - "City of Rome." This is the boat that first got me interested in the S Class boats and their history. It is also the subject of a book about submarine salvage operations called "On the Bottom." I have a copy of the original newspaper Article on the Sinking from the New Orleans Times Picayune. I also have the photo above that this cachet was made from. The Newspaper headline is available on my s-boat Web-site. The History
of the S-51 can also be viewed on the website, which also contains
the history of all 51 individual S Class submarines. This Page
