| Before I tell you a little about me, let me explain the reason and the meaning behind PooP Deck. The term "poop deck" refers to the partial deck above the ship's main afterdeck at the stern of the ship. In the days before indoor plumbing, a structure was rigged aft of this deck over the sea for the purpose of relieving oneself. When a ship takes a wave over the stern of a ship it is said to be "pooped." For the purpose of these pages, "poop" means having the inside information. I'm not sure where that particular term originated, possibly the poop deck was also a place to exchange information. If anyone has the straight "poop" on the origin of that last definition, please let me know. |

| Currently, I am working as a field manager and Technical representative for Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. I am responsible for design and engineering of the external communications system on board San Antonio Class Ships (LPD 17).
My previous assignment was in Savannah, Georgia, where I was involved with communications engineering on the Osprey Class Ships (MHC 51). We recently launched USS Cardinal MHC 60 and the guest speaker was "Hall of Fame" baseball player, Lou Brock. I've scanned a view of the Autograph for Baseball buff's and sports fans. You can also view the complete Launch Ceremony Program containing the ship's characteristics and Mission at my web site. I come from a long line of seafarers and the love of the sea is in my bones. My father was a retired Navy Chief Quartermaster and later captain of the "Cruise Schooner' Mystic Whaler. My grandfather was a lighthouse keeper, and my great grand uncle, Robert Falcon Scott, was an Antarctic explorer. Although, I love all ships from bassboats to battleships my first love is Tall Ships. I live in Mandeville Louisiana, north and across the lake from New Orleans with my wife Alberta. We have four grown children and five grandchildren. My hobbies and avocations include fishing, computers, stampcollecting, and 12-step recovery work. I have been working the Internet for the past six years now. One of my previous web pages, 12 Step Recovery has garnered several awards including the Mining Company Site of the Month. My Navy Web Site is now on a domain name server. |
The S Boats - Gallant Ladies of the Past. The site contains the history, specifications, and personal stories of S Boat crewmembers. I dont have a graphic for each S Boat yet, however I do have most of them and in addition a large amount of S-Boat related photos (Three full pages of graphics) of crews, tenders, spaces, etc. Come on over and check it out. |
