This cover was mailed
from Clyde, New York and has a purple January 13,
1879 postmark. It was addressed to Jim Decker of
Providence, Rhode Island. Jim had moved to Wakefield in
southern Rhode Island
(Washington County).
The Providence postmaster placed a Providence, RI January, 15 - 5 A.M.
receiving cancel on the reverse side of the cover. Five hours later a
Providence 10 A.M. cancel was placed on the front of the cover; the
Providence address was crossed out - replaced with Wakefield and the
letter was forwarded. |
