This cover was mailed from Clyde, New York and has a purple January 13, 1879 postmark. It was addressed to Jim Decker of Providence, Rhode Island. Jim had moved to Wakefield in southern Rhode Island (Washington County).  The Providence postmaster placed a Providence, RI January, 15 - 5 A.M. receiving cancel on the reverse side of the cover. Five hours later a Providence 10 A.M. cancel was placed on the front of the cover; the Providence address was crossed out - replaced with Wakefield and the letter was forwarded.
