Rhode Island Air Mail Covers
August 6, 1993 - 60th Anniversary of First Flight (AM1)

This is an Event Cover commemorating the First Flight (AM1) flown on August 6, 1932 by American Airlines. The cover was issued on August 6, 1992 on the 60th anniversary of the event by the Rhode Island Philatelic Society. The cover bears an Airport Station, Warwick, RI special event cancellation tying the 29-cent Flag over Whitehouse to the cover. The cover, while not an actual air mail cover was flown on American Airlines flight #643 on August 6, 1992. The Cachet shows the plane used on the first AA flight and a current AA jet along with two AA logos.
