This cover celebrates the opening of Rhode Island State Airport. (It's located in West Warwick.) The airport had an official name change a few years ago in honor of General Nathaniel Greene and is now known as Greene International Airport. The stamp is the 5 cent Winged Globe issued on February 10, 1930 and is Scott #C12. |
