1938 Hurricane Damage

The 1938 Great New England Hurricane Postcards above are part of what appears to be three different sets as some are numbered sequentially, (31, 32, etc.) one is numbered P1 and several have no numbering at all. However, all of the cards were produced by Tichnor Brothers Inc. of Boston, Massachusetts and all are of the same type produced in 1938/39, (i.e. Black & white divided back with white borders). I was primarily interested in collecting cards in the set that showed Rhode Island scenes, but in acquiring some of them I also picked up some showing hurricane damage of other New England states. I have shown two of these also. The last scan is the reverse of two of the cards. There were two slightly different versions of the text which is illustrated in that scan. A mini-history of the 1938 hurricane is included with the first Postcard,
(Cranston).
