Whale Rock Lighthouse - Narragansett Bay, RI - Circa 1920

This Lighthouse stood at the west entrance to Narragansett Bay. It was built in 1882 and provided navigational aid to Mariners until 1938 when it was destroyed in the Great Hurricane of that year. Walter B. Eberle, the first assistant light keeper was operating the station when it was completely swept away. His body was never recovered. All that remains today is the rock that the lighthouse once stood upon.
