The Post Office at Escoheag, (West Greenwich Township, Washington County), Rhode Island was established on May 25, 1848 with John R. Hazard as Postmaster. The Escoheag Post Office was discontinued on May 29, 1993. The last Postmaster was Laura H. Whittaker Durfee appointed on September 16, 1955.

John R. Hazard was born in 1821 and as of the 1860 census is listed as living in West Greenwich, Rhode Island.

Escoheag is actually located within the borders of Arcadia State Park and is home to Stepping Stone Ranch on Escoheag Hill Road, which offers trails and horseback riding along with boarding. Stepping Stone Ranch also features Country Music bands and was once home to the Cajun and Bluegrass festival and in September of 2004, they hosted their first annual Reggae Festival

The area is also home to Stepping Stone Falls on the Falls River, which borders Exeter Township on the other side. This is a beautiful area and definitely worth a visit. Our family enjoyed many Sunday afternoon picnics there and it is still one of my favorite spots in Rhode Island.
