The Apponaug Post Office, (Warwick Township, Kent County) was established on October 29, 1879 under Postmaster George B. Blackmar. Before 1879 it was known as the Warwick Post Office. The Apponaug Post Office was closed again and the name changed back to Warwick on June 30, 1949.
