The first Post Office at Clayville, (Foster-Scituate Township, Providence County), Rhode Island was established on March 6, 1848 with David Phillips as Postmaster. The post office was disestablished on July 15, 1853. the second Post Office at Clayville was established on February 26, 1902 with Brayton A. Round as Postmaster. Clayville is currently in operation under Postmaster Stephen U. Bailey appointed on December 2, 2000.

Clayville is a village in the township of Foster-Scituate, Rhode Island. It was once a fairly prosperous cotton manufacturing town, however in 1920 a portion of the town was lost when the Scituate Reservoir was constructed to supply water to Providence. The Clayville cotton mill was also abandoned during the 1920s when it's water source was cut-off by the new reservoir.

Clayville has an elementary school located on George Washington Highway, which is part of the Scituate school system.
