The Royal Arcanum was founded and organized by two members of the Knights of Honor, John A. Cummings and Dr. Darius Wilson on June 23, 1877. The association received it's charter from Massachusetts on November 5, 1877. 

The Knights of Honor became bankrupt in 1916, however the Royal Arcanum is still active today in both the U.S. and Canada.
