The Narragansett Branch Post Office of Wakefield (South Kingstown Township, Washington County) was established on March 1, 1930. The original (first) Narragansett Post Office was established on February 29, 1848 under Postmaster Samuel Brown. It was disestablished on November 30, 1892. The Narragansett Pier Post Office was established on September 4, 1867 under Postmaster William C. Caswell. This Post Office became the 2nd Narragansett Post Office on January 1, 1925 under Postmaster Walter T. Caswell and in 1930 it became a branch of the Wakefield Post Office.
