The Saunderstown Post Office, (North Kingstown Township, Washington County) was established on June 23, 1892 under Postmaster Stillman Saunders. This Post Office is currently in operation under Postmaster Kevin C. Floody appointed on February 5, 2005.

The Post Office I remember from the fifties when I was living in Saunderstown was in a combination home (upstairs) and Post Office. I believe that at one time; it was a general merchandise store. This building, now houses a store and the Post Office has moved to a brand new structure across the street (A1A - Boston Neck Road).

Saunderstown is my home town; we lived on Pierce Road about 3/4 of a mile North of the town center. Saunderstown has a good many historical sites including the Casey Farm, the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace, two old Ferry sites and several historical homes.
