The West Kingston Post Office,
(South Kingston Township -
Washington County) was
established on April 14, 1875 under Postmaster
Jesse B. Watson. The Post Office is currently in operation
under Officer in Charge William Gino DeConti appointed
on June 15, 2007. There is no current Postmaster.
NOTE: I noticed that in 2004, the
Cottrell Homestead in West Kingston was named Rhode Island's
outstanding dairy farm of the year. Our home on Pierce Road in
Saunderstown was once the farmhouse/home for the Cottrell Hill Farm.
I don't know if there is a relationship here or not but, I'll do
some research and try and find out if there is a connection.
The historic Kingston Station
(1 Railroad Avenue)
is located in West Kingston. It was built in 1875 by
the New York, Providence and Boston Railroad also
known as the Stonington Line. The station is currently
open and serves as an Amtrak Terminal and is on the
National Register of Historic Places.
